Letter from our CEO: "Hybrid Learning" in the COVID Era

Hi everyone,

To begin, I want to sincerely thank you for being a part of the DigitalCrafts community. Our staff, students, and alumni are a special group; made even more so by the incredible support and solidarity consistently on display despite the unusual challenges of today.

Like all schools, DigitalCrafts adapted to the COVID-19 pandemic by transitioning all on-site classes to online instruction in March. The online experience has been incredible, but we understand that local students like to get out of the house sometimes as well. To that end, we offer an optionally "hybrid" experience, coupling the flexibility of online instruction with on-site teaching assistants and a community of peers.

Here's how it works: lead instructors teach our classes remotely. This ensures that instructors are able to focus on all students equally, as opposed to balancing attention between on-site and online classmates. You may take the entire class online if you wish (most common approach), but our physical locations will also be open to those who want to work alongside peers and TAs. For students streaming class on-site, we'll have face masks, cleaning supplies, and spread out workstations.

Thank you to all of our students for trusting us with your education, it's a special privilege to be part of such an important chapter in your career. As always, please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions at all.

PS—another benefit of online learning has been welcoming students from all over into our community! Spending substantial and quality time with new friends from new places is a unique and valuable opportunity, and one we know you'll enjoy.

All the best,

Max McChesney
