Communities for Women Programmers

codebar

Our goal is to enable underrepresented people to learn programming in a safe and collaborative environment and expand their career opportunities. To achieve this we run free regular workshops, regular one-off events and try to create opportunities for our students making technology and coding more accessible.

codebar offers free workshops for aspiring developers in various cities worldwide, in addition to free self-guided tutorials on web development and version control.

Moms Can Code

Moms Can Code is an online community for moms learning how to code, where you can be yourself & receive the support you need to learn how to code.

Moms Can Code is just one part of Moms Can, an organization committed to making it easier for moms to work from home. Moms Can Code members get access to coding lessons, networking events and webinars to help you in your job search.

PyLadies

Our mission is to promote, educate and advance a diverse Python community through outreach, education, conferences, events and social gatherings.

PyLadies also aims to provide a friendly support network for women and a bridge to the larger Python world. Anyone with an interest in Python is encouraged to participate!

PyLadies is open to new and established coders alike. You can join one of their Meetup groups or launch your own with the PyLadies starter kit.

RailsBridge

We teach people to code because we believe that the people making technology should accurately reflect the diversity of those using it.

We want to push for all kinds of diversity in tech: gender, race, sexual orientation, ability, and class. Women were the first population we focused on, but aren't the last.

We value acceptance, enthusiasm and hard work. The RailsBridge community thrives on optimism and a love for making great things.

RailsBridge was started in San Francisco to bring more diversity to the coding community there, but the organization now hosts workshops worldwide to teach attendees Rails programming.

She's Coding

We are community driven. We educate and empower. We are closing the gender gap in tech. Whether you're a woman currently working in tech, a girl interested in learning to code, a male ally for women in computer science, or a company trying to find ways to increase diversity, you've come to the right place!

If you want to break into tech (even if you don't necessarily want to become a developer), an organization like She's Coding is a great resource. Developed in cooperation with the documentary CODE: Debugging the Gender Gap, She’s Coding provides education, resources and actionable guidelines for anyone who wants to help bridge the gender gap in tech.

Through this organization, you can learn to code, join a mentorship program or check out their resources on everything from career advancement and overcoming imposter syndrome to podcasts and blogs by and for women.

Women Who Code

We envision a world where women are proportionally represented as technical leaders, executives, founders, VCs, board members and software engineers.

To achieve this goal, Women Who Code empowers women with the skills they need to achieve their professional goals. Members can connect with mentors and network with others in the industry, learn to code and develop their leadership skills. Other membership benefits include a job board, scholarships and free tickets to industry conferences.
